We’re back for our fourth annual, free community event at Oxford University Science Park, Begbroke. We can't wait to see you there!
It's our fourth year – and it’s going to be the best one yet. Scientists, makers, families, artists and community innovators: come together and have fun at Oxford University Science Park, Begbroke!
Discover the research and innovation happening at Begbroke, across the University of Oxford and throughout Oxfordshire, through hands-on experiments, talks, workshops and lab tours. Suitable for all ages.
Join us to enjoy:
· Stands from Oxford Archaeology, Cherwell Collective, Lab tours and live talks from Oxford Sparks researchers.
· A climbing wall
· Hands-on activities from STEM goes Wild, make a modular chain reaction machine inspired by Rube Goldberg and make your own circuits to create electronic greetings cards.
· Live Music from Oxford Cherwell Brass plus DJs!
· performances by Sublime Science: high-energy, 30-minute spectacles packed with mind-boggling science demos
PLUS:
· Meet researchers from Energy Storage and Energy Carriers Group demonstrating their cooling vests, developed at Begbroke.
· Learn about University of Oxford spin-out Mode Labs and their microcavity technology, with water testing activities related to the clean water crisis.
· Discover what goes on in the lab at Yarnton-based Oxford PV and see their live solar power demonstrations
· Meeting the brilliant Year 5 and 6 student engineers from the Edward Feild School Green Racer Team and inspect the real, fully-functioning electric racer they built themselves.
· Calculating Curiosities: Object handling with the History of Science Museum
· Upcycling and recycling - Turn plastic bottles into musical instruments and help create a community artwork.
Food & Drink
Free hot dog or burger (vegan option available) from 12.30pm – first come, first served until it runs out (though we hope there should be enough for everyone). You are welcome to bring a picnic too.
