13th SRUK/CERU International Symposium 2026: "Collaborate to Innovate"

Friday, 26 June 2026 to Sunday, 28 June 2026, 10.30am - 2pm

The 13th Society of Spanish Researchers in the UK (SRUK/CERU) International Symposium 2026 will take place in Oxford from 26 to 28 June 2026 under the theme “Collaborate to Innovate”.
Chaired by Dr Ana Aragón González, the symposium will bring together researchers and professionals to explore how collaboration across disciplines and sectors drives innovation.

Symposium events will be held across various venues in Oxford, combining the city’s historical heritage with its cutting-edge research environment. The programme includes keynote lectures, short talks selected from abstracts, poster sessions, roundtables, workshops, a careers seminar, networking activities, and social events.

Ticket cost £45 for SRUK/CERU members and £85 for non-members.
Friday evening only tickets are also available for everyone for £16.

Brief overview:

Friday 26th:
The programme will open at the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery with a satellite event in Spanish featuring Prof Sonia Contera’s talk “Seis problemas que la ciencia no puede resolver”, followed by a roundtable on the philosophy and history of science. In the evening, the symposium will officially begin at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, with the Opening Ceremony, the SRUK/CERU Merit Award, and a keynote lecture by Dr Sara García Alonso. The day will conclude with a reception among the museum’s collections, a telescope session, and an informal social gathering.

Saturday 27th:
The Mathematical Institute will host the core scientific programme, including a keynote lecture, short talks selected from abstracts, poster sessions, and the roundtable “Partnerships that Drive Innovation”, alongside the SRUK/CERU Annual General Meeting. The day will close with a concert at St Michael at the North Gate and a Pint of Science, Arts and Social Dinner.

Sunday 28th:
The programme will continue at the Mathematical Institute with a careers seminar, an interactive workshop on “Communication in Collaboration”, and a keynote selected from abstract submissions, followed by the awards ceremony and closing session. The symposium will conclude with a final networking lunch and a punting activity.
