Seminar talk titled, Investigating the role of immune cell exhaustion and an aging immune system in Parkinson's Disease

Dr. Rebecca Wallings is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at Indiana University. She completed her DPhil at the University of Oxford under the mentorship of Professor Richard Wade-Martins before undertaking postdoctoral training with Prof. Malú Gámez Tansey at Emory University and the University of Florida, transitioning her research focus from neuroscience to neuroimmunology. Her independent research program investigates the role of immune cell exhaustion and immunosenescence in age-related neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson's disease and dementia, aiming to develop novel immunomodulatory therapeutics by uncovering how genetic risk, environmental exposures, and aging synergize to drive immune dysfunction and neurodegeneration.
