We are excited to host Avi Samelson for an extra event in the ORNN seminar series!
Avi is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Neurology and Biological Chemistry at UCLA. His research focuses on understanding how proteins aggregate in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, and how different brain cell types regulate and respond to these pathological processes. Using CRISPR-based functional genomics, stem cell-derived neuronal models, and systems biology approaches, his lab investigates the molecular pathways that control tau and alpha-synuclein aggregation, proteostasis, and neuronal vulnerability. Please join us to learn more about cutting-edge approaches to studying neurodegeneration and the cellular mechanisms underlying protein misfolding diseases.
