An evening of music and conversation exploring the impact of music on Einstein's thinking. Booking required.
Thursday, 18 June 2026, 6pm to 7pm
This is an in-person event at the Levine Building, Trinity College. Tickets are £8 each (£5 for Oxford University and GLAM staff). Booking is essential.
Einstein’s love of music made him see the world differently. He once said that he often thought in music. If music inspired Einstein's thinking 100 years ago, how does his scientific legacy inspire musicians and researchers today?
Join our panel - Andrew Robinson (author of Einstein in Oxford), Professor Brian Foster OBE (author of Einstein: A Life in Science and Music) and Professor Roger Davies - for an evening of conversation and music, exploring the impact of Einstein's thinking on science today.
Musicians Zakiya Leeming and Linda Jankowska will premiere three miniatures for violin composed for this event and inspired by conversations with our panelists.
Speaker(s): Andrew Robinson (Author of Einstein: A Hundred Years of Relativity, Einstein on the Run, and Einstein in Oxford), Professor Brian Foster OBE (Donald H. Perkins Professor of Experimental Physics), Professor Roger Davies (Emeritus Wetton Professor), Zakiya Leeming (Associate Composer at the Royal Northern College of Music's (RNCM) Centre for Practice and Research in Science and Music (PRiSM)), Linda Jankowska (Musician and violinist; founding member of Distractfold Ensemble)
