DESCRIPTION:Join Professor Lynne Huffer\, philosopher\, writer\, and artis
t\, for a workshop that brings together experimental writing with visual c
ollage. Lynne will share some of her creative practices with the aim to in
spire workshop participants to develop her own approach to what she calls
thought collage: using writing exercises and analog collage as a way to st
imulate new forms of expression and thinking.\n\n \n\nLynne Huffer is the
Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Philosophy at Emory University. Philosop
her\, writer\, teacher\, and collage artist interested in formal experimen
tation\, her creative efforts are driven by a desire to think-feel the wor
ld differently than before\, and to open up new spaces for intimacy\, frie
ndship\, and political solidarities. Lynne Huffer calls this mode of think
ing-feeling and art-making “thought collage”. In drawing on the aesthe
tic of fragmentation\, her work pushes the limits of our perception and ou
r thinking. In These Survivals: Autobiography of Extinction (Duke Universi
 ty Press\, 2025)\, a hybrid\, collage-style work in fragments that combine
s text with images\, Lynne Huffer brings together philosophy\, memoir\, po
etry\, and original multimedia artworks to articulate an ethics of living
 on a devastated planet.
