DESCRIPTION:An Exclusive Talk for Members of the Ashmolean\nThis event tak
es place online via Zoom\nTickets are £10. Booking is essential\n\nWith D
onato Esposito\, art historian\n\nIn an exclusive online talk for Members\
, art historian Dr Donato Esposito discusses the graphic art of Edward Bur
ne-Jones\, a figure with strong connections to the Pre-Raphaelites and the
city of Oxford.\n\nThe Ashmolean has a particularly rich collection of wo
rks by the artists of the Pre-Raphaelite movement\, and among them many dr
awings by Burne-Jones.\n\nThe Museum's Western Art Print Room holds one of
the largest and most important collections of Burne-Jones's work on paper
including preparatory studies\, cartoons and highly finished designs.\n\n
Some were made expressly to be given away to members in his close circle o
f friends and patrons\, and became cherished examples of fine draughtsmans
hip.\n\nDon't miss the opportunity to see rarely displayed works and hear
what made Burne-Jones such a central and defining figure in the later deve
 lopment of the Pre-Raphaelite movement.
