DESCRIPTION:This workshop will cover the basics of copyright as they apply
  to researchers at the University of Oxford. It will explain the different
  types of copyright work that are used or generated in research and the ri
 ghts and responsibilities for researchers and academic authors in an age o
 f increasingly open scholarship.\n\nWe will discuss the practical implicat
 ions of copyright law on the publication process\, as well as the producti
 on and sharing of research data. This will include the licensing of resear
 ch outputs and data and the use of open licences such as Creative Commons.
  We will also cover ownership of copyright\, author agreements with publis
 hers and the benefits of signing up to the University of Oxford rights ret
 ention pilot.\n\nFinally\, the session will cover the use of copyright con
 tent owned by others as part of the research process. This will involve lo
 oking at the role of rights clearance\, copyright exceptions\, due diligen
 ce and risk management in common research scenarios.\n\nIntended audience:
