Spatially visualising RNA biology in action in human tissues

Professor Rong Fan is the Harold Hodgkinson Professor of Biomedical Engineering and of Pathology at Yale University. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed postdoctoral training at the California Institute of Technology before joining Yale in 2010.
Prof. Fan’s research focuses on developing single-cell and spatial multi-omics technologies to map the transcriptome, epigenome, proteome, and metabolome directly in human tissues. He pioneered deterministic barcoding in tissue (DBiT) for spatial multi-omics, introduced spatial epigenomics methods, and recently developed Patho-DBiT for comprehensive RNA profiling in archival FFPE clinical specimens.
His work has been recognised with the NSF CAREER Award, the Packard Fellowship for Science and Engineering, and the NCI Howard Temin Career Transition Award, among others. He is an elected fellow of AIMBE, CASE, and the National Academy of Inventors, and is a co-founder of IsoPlexis, Singleron Biotechnologies, and AtlasXomics.
