In conjunction with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in July 2026, Pembroke College JCR Art Gallery presents Oxford and the American Revolution, a pop-up exhibition exploring the web of connections between our local community and the world-changing struggle for American independence. Through objects, images, and storytelling, the exhibition showcases how Oxford students, graduates, and Oxfordshire residents participated in the debates over the governance of Britain’s North American colonies and in the violent conflict that ultimately resulted in the separation of the United States from the British Empire.
