With Donato Esposito, art historian
In an exclusive online talk for Members, art historian Dr Donato Esposito discusses the graphic art of Edward Burne-Jones, a figure with strong connections to the Pre-Raphaelites and the city of Oxford.
The Ashmolean has a particularly rich collection of works by the artists of the Pre-Raphaelite movement, and among them many drawings by Burne-Jones.
The Museum's Western Art Print Room holds one of the largest and most important collections of Burne-Jones's work on paper including preparatory studies, cartoons and highly finished designs.
Some were made expressly to be given away to members in his close circle of friends and patrons, and became cherished examples of fine draughtsmanship.
Don't miss the opportunity to see rarely displayed works and hear what made Burne-Jones such a central and defining figure in the later development of the Pre-Raphaelite movement.
