We would like to extend a warm invitation to an upcoming lecture on Buddhist print culture by Professor Shih-shan Susan Huang from Rice University.

The lecture is based on her new book, The Dynamic Spread of Buddhist Print Culture: Mapping Buddhist Book Roads in China and Its Neighbors. Prof Huang will explore the concept of the “Buddhist Book Roads”, tracing the transnational circulation of Buddhist print culture through illustrated books discovered in archaeological sites, statues, and museum collections. Moving beyond a view of Buddhist woodblock prints as static artefacts, she considers their significance within multicultural contexts and their transmission across networks within and beyond Asia.

Speaker(s): Professor Shih-shan Susan Huang (Rice University)

Venue: Weston Library - Sir Victor Blank Lecture Theatre - Sir Victor Blank Lecture Theatre Weston Library Broad Street Oxford Oxfordshire OX1 3BG United Kingdom
